chocolate avocado mousse
You may have seen me casually slipping this into Massi’s lunchbox. It looks like chocolate mousse, tastes like chocolate mousse - and yet it’s packed with avocado, yogurt and real fats that actually do something for little bodies and brains. Sounds like a win? That’s because it is.
- 2 ripe avocados (ripe is key)
- ¼ cup unsweetened cacao powder
- ¼ cup maple syrup
- 2–3 tbsp plain full-fat yogurt (adjust for creaminess)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of sea salt
Scoop avocados into a food processor or high-speed blender.
Add cacao, maple syrup, yogurt, vanilla, and salt.
Blend until completely smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed.
Taste and tweak: More yogurt = lighter, tangier mousse More cacao = deeper chocolate flavour
Chill for at least 20 minutes (or overnight) for a firmer texture.
Spoon into jars for the lunchbox or serve straight away.
- Tastes like dessert, not like “healthy food”
- Easy way to get avocado into reluctant eaters
- Super fast to make
- Works as dessert, snack, or lunchbox treat
- Sweet, without being a full sugar hit
Store in an airtight container.
For best texture and flavor. Can be kept longer if well-sealed.
